Harold Flanagan Retires from United States Marine Corps Reserve
Harold Flanagan has retired from the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve after 26 years of service, including 10 years on active duty.
Mr. Flanagan enlisted in 1985 and was assigned to a helicopter squadron maintenance section. He was later commissioned a second lieutenant and trained as an infantry officer. In the early part of his career, he served in various infantry units and as staff secretary to Major General James E. Livingston. Transferring to the Marine Reserve, he served as a logistics officer, Spanish interpreter and Latin American military engagement officer. As a senior officer, Flanagan was assigned as an intelligence and anti-terrorism officer and later was deployed to North Africa for Operation Enduring Freedom, where he was the security officer for a joint anti-terrorism base. After being promoted to the rank of colonel, Flanagan was assigned as a West Africa military engagement officer and French interpreter. His most recent assignment was in 2008 as a logistics officer for the Fourth Marine Division, where he supported training operations in West Africa. |
