Overview
 

Anders Holmgren’s practice includes commercial litigation, casualty/personal injury, and civil appeals. Mr. Holmgren has successfully represented his clients’ interests at all levels of Louisiana’s court system.

 

Mr. Holmgren graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with distinction, in 2006, and he earned his law degree magna cum laude from Tulane Law School in 2012. While at Tulane, he concentrated his studies in Louisiana’s civil law, earning a Civil Law certificate. Mr. Holmgren served as a managing editor of the Tulane Law Review and was a student-attorney with the Tulane Civil Litigation Clinic. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Pro Bono Project, where he was named the 2011 Pro Bono Law Student of the Year.

 

Professional Experience

​

  • Representing the family of a shipyard worker in a suit against a former employer. Enrolled on appeal and successfully urged the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal to reverse a district court judgment that expansively interpreted the preemptive scope of the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. 

  • Representing a worker injured in a major refinery explosion. Enrolled on appeal and successfully convinced the Louisiana First Circuit to reverse a district court judgment that had dismissed the worker’s case against a valve manufacturer and valve distributor.

  • Representing the widow of a nationally acclaimed artist in intellectual property litigation. Successfully defended a federal lawsuit that sought to divest her of community property rights in works of art created during the marriage.

  • Representing an oil company in a dispute with a contractor following an oil spill in Bayou Sorrel. Successfully prosecuted the company’s claims through trial, winning a substantial judgment that led to a favorable settlement.

  • Representing a public university in a suit brought by a former student. Obtained dismissal of the lawsuit and successfully defended that judgment in the student’s appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

  • Representing a loan company in a dispute with a borrower. Successfully prosecuted suit through trial in state court, winning judgment for the full amount due. 

  • In various matters, engaged to submit amicus briefs in the Louisiana Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
